Agriculture is one of the most hazardous industries in the nation.
 
62% of farmers are 55 years of age and older with a national average of 58 years.
 
Farmers’ work and lifestyle are highly integrated and few farmers ever fully retire, working many years beyond what would be considered a normal retirement age. With age, many routine tasks and activities take on new risks due to decreased reaction times, muscular abilities, hearing and vision changes, and medication usage.
